Hello everyone,
Mom went to see her doctor today and received a clean bill of health. Mom has been so strong over the last ten days, she has been an amazing source of strength through all she has been through. Jack is lucky to have such a loving, caring Mother to watch over him. It is clear that if allowed Mom would camp out next to Jack's bed and tend to his every need.
Dad went to work today to make sure the bills were getting paid. Mom was able to spend much anticipated time with Jack doing Kangaroo Care. Today was the first time Dad was able to hold young Jack. For those dads out there you know what I mean when I say it is truly a moment you'll never forget. The emotion that overcomes you is incredible. Jack is so small and delicate that it takes all your attention to make sure you don't disrupt him. It was a special moment, and one that I look forward to experiencing a great deal more in the near future.
Mom met with Dr. Murthy, he was very positive about all things Jack. As he's said to us many times before, one day at a time, tomorrow is another day. Dr. Murthy is the attending Neonatologist, as Northwestern is a teaching hospital he oversees a group of interns studying to be baby doctors. The interns spend time evaluating children in the NICU and then provide their methods of care before Dr. Murthy. Dr. Murthy always has the last call with input from the nurses that keep a close watch on Jack and all his friends in the NICU. The interns are all very intelligent and dedicated, they work very hard to do all they can to care for the children.
Jack seems to have settled into a routine, he's being fed every three hours which coincides with taking his vitals and of course changing his diapers. During Jack's feedings he is most active, he loves to stretch his long arms and legs, flash his blue eyes and occasionally lets a cute wail to let the nurse know when he's had enough. As we've said before young Jack seems to be a favorite of the nursing staff.
Well, Jack has now been a tenant of the NICU for about ten days now and many young babies have arrived and gone home. We continue to keep the faith we'll be those parents that get to leave with our son in the near future.
Thanks to all who have emailed and commented, the thoughts and prayers on Jack's behalf is sure to keep him safe.
