It's Friday,
Looks like Mom will be checking out of the hospital today, she's feeling much better after a restful night. We think that the quality time with Jack really relaxed her and helped her sleep better. Jack is now being fed every three hours, the sign of a true Houlihan, with the breast milk from Mom. The nurses say this is good progress which of course makes the start of the day that much better. We've received lots of flowers and things to move out and take home to remind us of all the support our family and friends have showered us with this last week.
We've been told by several people in the last week that a premature birth is similar to a roller coaster ride. There are constant turns, curves, ups, downs and many unexpected thrills and fright. This is so true, we've been amazed by each up, there is a down, each peak there is a valley, but through it all Jack has been resilient. It is clearly evident he is a member of the "Fightin' Irish". We are so fortunate that we are along for his ride, and that our family and friends are in the seat right next to us. We expect this ride to be the best ride of our lives so keep checking in for further updates.
We'll talk soon.....
JMJ
P.S. We want to recognize all of you that sent wonderful flowers, gifts, and delicious treats!!!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son! Know that you all are being remembered in a special way as Jack takes in his new world with the love, aid, and support of so many family and friends. The "Verizon" network has nothing on Jack Loftus Smith!
Our very best, Mary Therese & Phil
Jimmy & Margaret - Congratulations! I am so glad that Margaret and Jack are doing so well. You are all in my prayers. I know Jack will get stronger every day. Just to let you know Katie and Bridget were 71/2 weeks premature and they are bigger than me now and thriving in college. It is amazing how fast they grow. He is going to be fine. I'll write again. Love, Tom and Mary Lynn
