Greetings,

Jack had a wonderful Easter weekend which is why he probably rested so well last nite. He was able to get through the night very well without any complications. Dad met with the doctors this morning and they were extremely pleased with Jack's progress. They felt the blood transfusion helped with his breathing problems. They were also excited that he is consistently putting on weight.

Jack had a great visit on Easter by Grandma Smith, Great Aunt Gert, Aunt Susan, Aunt Janis, Uncle Bill and cousin Julia. One of Jack's favorite nurses Cathy answered all Grandma Smith's questions about his care. Grandma Smith was still amazed at Jack's size and assured everyone that he must be a miracle baby to be doing so well. Everyone was able to see Jack doing his stretching routine which has become a treat. Julia brought Jack a handmade nameplate for his hospital room that will soon be moved to his permanent residence in the South Loop. It was a wonderful day topped by dinner at Maggiano's, thanks to Susan, Janis and Bill for their generosity.

We would like to recognize some of the nurses that have taken such good care of Jack these last three weeks. Carol, Cathy and Sue are truly unsung heroes in our book. They have been incredible when it comes to providing Jack the attention he needs. They have been so patient with answering all our questions, assuring us about certain procedures, and always there to provide support when we need it. There are so many more great nurses, doctors and staff it's hard to remember them all. Every person we have come in contact with has been absolutely outstanding. We are truly blessed to have such angels on hand to take care of our son.

As we head into our fourth week at our temporary home, we want to thank our families and friends. Your prayers and good wishes continue to be our strength.
Thanks,
JMJ
