The roller coaster continues........
Last evening Jack's IV was removed which was a very big step, unfortunately he was unable to maintain his blood sugar level and the nurses had to reinsert the IV during the night. Another attempt was made today to remove the IV, however Jack was still unable to sustain an adequate sugar level and the IV remained intact.
It is very difficult to see a child go through this process. You know the nurses are doing their absolute best to care for your child but it is difficult to see a needle penetrate such a little hand like Jack's. As parents for only a short period of time we truly feel for other parents who have endured this process. We have received so many calls and emails regarding preemies which have gone on to lead healthy successful lives, we are very hopeful that we will one day be able to tell Jack's successful story to others in this situation. Right now our hope for Jack is to be able to hold his own, breathe without a hose, eat without a tube, and have a heart strong enough not to need stimulation. This has been a humbling experience to say the least, each day is a victory for Jack, his family, and friends.
We thank you for your thoughts and prayers which will assist Jack through these most difficult days.
